Audit fees for a financial statement audit in Vietnam depend mainly on company size and on whether the company is foreign-owned (FDI) or a Vietnamese trading, manufacturing or construction business. This guide sets out DAVA's indicative fee table, explains what drives the price, and converts the FDI fees into Australian, New Zealand and Singapore dollars so you can budget before requesting a quote.
What do audit fees in Vietnam cover?
Audit fees normally cover planning, testing and reconciling the accounting records and vouchers within the agreed scope, and issuing the audit report. Work outside that scope, such as additional audit work for several subsidiaries or rebuilding incomplete records, should be agreed and written into the engagement contract before it begins.
When does a company need a financial statement audit?
Companies that fall within the statutory audit requirement must complete an audit each year. Many foreign-owned companies also need audited reports to reconcile with their parent group, and many banks ask for audited statements when they assess a loan. For an Australian, New Zealand or Singapore group, the parent may require an audited Vietnamese subsidiary report even where the local law does not. Check the group reporting requirements before comparing quotes.
How fees are agreed
There is no fixed national fee that applies to every company. Fees are agreed in the engagement contract and reflect the scope and the risk of the engagement. A low quote with an unclear scope can lead to higher costs later, so compare quotes on the same scope and the same reporting framework.
What drives the cost
- Company size, as set out in the fee table.
- FDI or Vietnamese company status, because the reconciliation with a parent company's reporting differs.
- The number of subsidiaries, branches or projects in scope.
- The state of the records: complete, reconciled records reduce time and cost.
- The number of related-party and other unusual transactions.
- Any need to report under a framework other than Vietnamese Accounting Standards.
- Urgent deadlines, which usually increase cost.
How the engagement works at DAVA
- Brief and indicative quote: you tell us the company type, size, industry and deadline.
- Engagement contract: we agree the scope, reporting framework, fee and timetable in writing.
- Audit planning: we identify risks and material items and send the document list.
- Fieldwork: we test and reconcile the records and work with your accounting team.
- Results and report: we discuss findings and exceptions with management, then issue the audit report.
Timing
Timing depends on size and the quality of the records. A company with complete, reconciled records usually finishes much faster than one that must rebuild its ledgers. Share your deadline when you first contact us so our team can plan staffing.
Documents to prepare
- Business registration certificate, charter and any changes during the financial year
- Balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement and notes
- General ledger, trial balance and detailed receivables and payables ledgers
- Major contracts, loan agreements and related-party transactions for the year
- Board or shareholder minutes and resolutions
- The parent company's financial statements, for a foreign-owned company that needs reconciliation

Vietnam vs Australia, New Zealand and Singapore
The table below compares the points that matter when a Vietnamese audit is shared with a parent group or an overseas lender.
| Criteria | Vietnam | Australia | New Zealand | Singapore |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who signs the audit report | Auditor holding a Vietnamese auditor certificate and practising registration, working for a licensed audit firm | Registered Company Auditor (RCA) registered with ASIC, where the audit requires one | Licensed auditor under the Auditor Regulation Act 2011, for audits of FMC reporting entities | Public accountant registered with ACRA for statutory audit |
| Regulator or licensing body | Ministry of Finance | ASIC | Licences issued through accredited bodies; the FMA licenses overseas auditors | ACRA |
| Accounting standards | Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) | AASB standards, designed to match IFRS for for-profit entities | NZ IFRS, fully converged with IFRS Standards | SFRS(I), IFRS-based standards |
| Fees and timing | See the indicative table above | Varies; request a quote | Varies; request a quote | Varies; request a quote |
| Key legal point | Set by the Law on Independent Audit and Ministry of Finance guidance | Corporations Act 2001 and ASIC Regulatory Guide 180 set auditor registration rules | Scope depends on whether the entity is an FMC reporting entity | Small private companies may be exempt from statutory audit if they meet ACRA criteria |
Vietnamese statutory accounts follow VAS, which is not identical to IFRS. Australian, New Zealand and Singapore groups usually report under IFRS-based standards. When a Vietnamese subsidiary is consolidated into the group, a reconciliation or conversion from VAS to the group framework is commonly needed. We can include this in the audit scope on request, so the group pack is built from the same reviewed records.
Common situations
A newly formed foreign-owned company
A new company usually has few transactions, but it needs accounting records set up correctly from the start. Costs can be lower if the records are simple, although reconciliation with the parent may add work.
A Vietnamese company with old receivables
Unreconciled receivables and payables usually increase time and fees. Reviewing balances before sending records can reduce the extra cost.
A company that needs a report for a bank
A bank may ask for audited statements together with collateral documents. In that case, our guide to special purpose audits for bank loans, tenders and M&A explains when a purpose-specific report is needed.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an audit of financial statements cost in Vietnam?
There is no single price. The indicative table shows fees by company size and by FDI or Vietnamese company type. For an accurate figure, send us your company details and we will provide a quote.
Are audit fees higher for foreign-owned companies?
Not always. In the indicative table, the FDI column is higher in some size bands and lower in others. Scope, and the need to reconcile with a parent company report, are the main drivers.
What is included in the fee?
The fee covers the audit work within the scope set out in the engagement letter and the issue of the audit report. Work outside that scope should be agreed in writing.
Do small companies need an audit in Vietnam?
That depends on the legal requirements that apply to the company type and its circumstances. Check your position before deciding, or ask for advice.
How long does a financial statement audit take?
It depends on size, the complexity of the records and how quickly documents are supplied. Complete, reconciled records usually shorten the timeline.
Do I also need a valuation of assets?
Not in every case. If the purpose involves the value of assets, such as a capital contribution or a mortgage, a separate valuation report is needed.
Conclusion
Audit fees depend on company size, company type and scope. The indicative table and conversions help you budget, but the firm price is set only after we review your records and your brief. Send us your company details and we will prepare a quote.
